Itinerary
The Waqrapukara tour starts with pick-up at your hotel between 4:30 a.m. and 5:00 a.m. Once the group is complete, we head south of Cusco in our tourist transport, a drive of about 3 hours.
On the way we make a short stop in the village of Cusipata, where we enjoy a traditional Andean breakfast to recharge before continuing to the trailhead.
We reach the town of Santa Lucía, where we take a detour of 15 minutes along a winding road to the point known as Punta Carretera. Here we get ready for a few minutes before starting the hike to Waqrapukara.
The trek to Waqrapukara takes about 1 hour and 30 minutes, covering 2.5 kilometers uphill. Along the route we enjoy spectacular Andean landscapes, majestic mountains and the peace of nature.
When we arrive at the Waqrapukara Archaeological Complex, our expert guide gives a detailed explanation of the history, meaning and ceremonial function of this impressive pre-Inca site, considered an ancient astronomical observatory. Then you'll have free time to explore at your own pace, enjoy the surroundings and take unforgettable photos.
After the visit, we hike back to Punta Carretera, where our transport waits to take us to lunch and then back to Cusco.
